Meet your Trainer

Amy Petch

Amy Walton The Suffolk Dog Trainer with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier

From a young age, I have been passionate about dogs. Growing up alongside many wonderful dogs of different shapes and sizes, it was clear that they would always be a big part of my life.

After completing a Higher National Diploma in Animal Husbandry, I started volunteering at a local training, walking, and daycare company. It was here that I soon took employment, and went on to pass the assessment with distinction to become an accredited member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers in 2015. I also gained the Open College Network Level 3 qualification in Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour. After eight wonderful years helping hundreds of clients with everything from basic and advanced behaviour and obedience training to agility, it became time for me to take the next steps in my training journey. This is when I founded The Suffolk Dog Trainer.

I now live in Stowmarket with my partner and our rescued Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Koda. When this little dog stumbled into our lives I was hoping for the perfect, laid back, easy going demo dog. He turned out to be none of those things! Life with such a complex little character has been the challenge I did not know I needed and has pushed me to be a better trainer. He is the reason I love working with dogs that need that little bit of extra help and understanding!

I have participated in a variety of dog sports, with a special interest in scent detection and tracking.  When not working, I can usually be found either reading, watching seminars, attending workshops and talking about all things dog!
